Aquest sòcol permet programar circuits integrats en encapsulat PLCC de 28 pins utilitzant programadors dissenyats per a DIP de 24 pins. El sòcol és passiu i no introdueix requisits de voltatge o corrent propis. La seva compatibilitat elèctrica depèn del rang suportat pels contactes (fins a 1 A, 0 a 50 VDC típics), i de l'ajust correcte entre els pins PLCC28 i DIP24, sent compatible amb la gran majoria de programadors universals estàndard.

Es recomana netejar els contactes periòdicament amb aire comprimit sec i evitar el contacte amb humitat o greixos. No superar els cicles mecànics màxims (generalment 500 insercions garantides per fàbrica). Guardar-lo en un entorn sec a temperatures entre 0 i 50 °C allarga la vida útil.
