Aquests clips ofereixen aïllament de fins a 1000V en categoria CAT III, cosa que els fa aptes per a aplicacions de mesura en instal·lacions elèctriques fixes com ara quadres i distribució d'energia en entorns industrials o residencials que no exposin a transitoris extrems. No se'n recomana l'ús en mesures directes sobre línies d'alta tensió aèries (CAT IV).

Cada clip mesura aproximadament 55 mm de llarg, 12 mm d'ample i 10 mm d'alt. El pes individual és proper als 18 g. El cos està fabricat en plàstic aïllant amb molla i garra d'acer inoxidable, amb terminal femella per a banana de 4 mm.

Es garanteix un ús segur fins a 10 A en condicions normals i un rang de temperatura entre -10 °C i 40 °C. L'ús continu prop del límit superior de corrent o a temperatures elevades pot reduir la vida útil de l'aïllant i de la molla.

La molla d'acer sol oferir un rendiment fiable en l'ús regular, però es pot fatigar si se sotmet a esforços mecànics prolongats o es corroeix. Actualment, aquests clips no disposen de recanvis oficials individuals; si falla el mecanisme, cal substituir el clip complet.
