El sistema hidràulic requereix revisions regulars de segells, neteja exterior de cilindres i comprovació del nivell i estat de l’oli hidràulic (es recomana revisió cada 6 mesos o cada 500 cicles). S’han d’evitar fuites i l’ús d’olis inadequats. El canvi d’oli normalment és anual si l’ús és intensiu. S’ha d’evitar sobrecarregar la premsa per prevenir desgast prematur.

Les premses hidràuliques manuals com la de 20 tones proporcionen més control de pressió i un manteniment més senzill (sense necessitat de compressor), però el ritme de treball és menor respecte als models pneumàtics, que permeten cicles més ràpids i repetitius en treballs de volum alt.
