El tub termoretràctil de 30 mm és ideal per a l’aïllament, la protecció i l’agrupament de cables, especialment en connexions elèctriques de diàmetre mitjà-gran. Aporta una solució ordenada, resistent a l’abrasió i més fàcil d’aplicar que la cinta aïllant, assegurant un segellat més uniforme quan s’escalfa adequadament.

El tub té un diàmetre inicial de 30 mm i típicament un ratio de contracció de 2:1, reduint-se fins a aprox. 15 mm de diàmetre intern després d’aplicar calor. El gruix sol augmentar lleugerament després de contreure’s, oferint més resistència mecànica; la longitud pot disminuir fins a un 10%.

Aquest tipus de tub sol fabricar-se en poliolefina, un material flexible i resistent a productes químics. Funciona correctament entre -55 °C i +125 °C i el seu rang típic de retracció és entre 90 °C i 120 °C, depenent del gruix i de la marca específica.

Es recomana tallar el tub a la longitud desitjada i inserir-lo sobre el cable/objecte abans d’escalfar. Per a una retracció homogènia i sense cremades, l’òptim és fer servir una pistola d’aire calent (700–900 W, a uns 200–300 °C) movent-la regularment. Cal evitar flames obertes per no danyar el material.

La majoria de tubs de poliolefina compleixen normes com UL224 (inflamabilitat VW-1) i directives RoHS, però es recomana verificar certificacions específiques amb el proveïdor. No és apte per a aplicacions on es requereixin aïllaments d’alt voltatge (>1 kV) o exposició contínua a temperatures superiors al seu límit operatiu.

It is not suitable for applications requiring high-voltage insulation (>1 kV) or continuous exposure to temperatures above its operating limit.
