No requereix connexió elèctrica ni eines especials per a la instal·lació bàsica.

Està fabricat en ferro colat, cosa que li dona bona resistència i estabilitat per a treballs de subjecció en metalls i fusta, compatible amb operacions lleugeres de trepat i fresat. No està dissenyat per a càrregues d'impacte elevades ni per subjectar peces durant treballs de gran parell, com doblegat o tall pesant, on models industrials de gamma més alta podrien ser més adequats.

Es recomana netejar regularment les guies i els cargols d'avanç de llimadures i aplicar una fina capa de lubricant a les zones mòbils per evitar desgasts prematurs o oxidació. En condicions d'ús correctes, la seva vida útil pot superar els 5 anys en tallers d'ús moderat. No requereix manteniment elèctric, ja que és completament manual.
